Our Story

Recognised as one of Europe’s top Rock ‘n’ Roll bands, The Firebirds, Jim Plummer, Rich Lorriman and Spencer Lingwood are three first‑class musicians and vocalists covering the full spectrum of 1950s and 1960s music: rockabilly, doo‑wop, instrumentals and ballads. Over four decades, they have built a reputation as the go‑to act for authentic 50’s rock ’n’ roll.

The Firebirds were formed in 1981 by John Plummer and school friend Simon Brand, inspired by the rockabilly revival sweeping the UK. From their earliest shows the band aimed to capture the authentic high‑energy sound of 1950s rock ’n’ roll.

In 1992 The Firebirds performed at the official opening of the Euro Disney theme park in Paris — being noted as the only British band selected

1980s

Rising Through the Ranks

Throughout the 1980s the band toured extensively across the UK and Europe, building a devoted fanbase with energetic performances and an authentic vintage sound.

1990s

International Tours

The Firebirds expanded their reach with tours of the USA and South America and collaborations with rockabilly legends, taking their music to new international audiences.

2000s

New Generations

New members joined and the band evolved while remaining true to their roots. They released new albums and set up their own studio and label, Rockville Records.

2010s

Legacy & Recognition

Recognised as leading voices in the European rock ’n’ roll scene, The Firebirds appeared on TV and radio and headlined major festivals.

2020s

Still Rockin’

Today the band continues to perform, inspire new fans and keep the spirit of rockabilly alive with active touring, releases and festival appearances.
